Why Go?

With popular destinations like the Maasai Mara, a visit to Kenya will leave you fulfilled. Maasai Mara is one of Africa's best National Parks. It shares a border with the popular Serengeti, and every year over 1,5 million wildebeest migrate from Maasai Mara to the Serengeti and back, on what is known as the Great Migration.

Besides Maasai Mara, there is also the Amboseli National Reserve. This amazing national park hosts a vast array of wildlife stretching across vast grasslands with a backdrop of the famed Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest mountain. The name Amboseli means "salty dust" in Maasai, which accurately describes the park's conditions. The reserve is known for housing one of the largest populations of elephants in Africa, so watch out for these gentle giants on your many safari adventures.

Throughout the many reserves, you'll find tribal peoples dressed in fancy red garments, they are known as the Maasai and are the original inhabitors of these lands. They are a very friendly group of people and are world-famous for their Maasai jumps. Throughout your visit, you'll get to interact with these people and learn about their amazing culture.

When to Go?

Kenya is an all-year-round destination as the geography is quite diverse with something to do in every season. However, most of the best game viewing occurs between January and March with the climate being mild and dry. This is a great time for a safari because most animals gather at waterholes creating a fantastic game-viewing experience. Although, a visit between the rainy seasons between April and June and between November and December is worth a visit, as you'd avoid large crowds and enjoy low prices at lodges.

Where to Go?

Kenya is filled with so many beautiful lakes, visit Lake Nakuru National Park in Central Kenya. It's famous for the many flocks of pink flamingos that visit its waters. This site is like no other, as you witness over 1000 flamingos looking great with their long necks and fabulous colors. The park hosts over 450 bird species and is also a rich diversity of incredible wildlife.

For a city life escape, visit Nairobi, Kenya's Capital city. Nairobi is filled with a lot of history as it was once under the rule of the British empire. Visit Nairobi National Museum to learn more about this history along with the culture and traditions of the many ethnic groups that reside in this beautiful country. Another popular museum is the Karen Blixen Museum, whose facility once belonged to the famous Danish Author Isak Dinesen, who wrote the book Out of Africa. Visit the many restaurants in the city to enjoy their delicious cuisine, as well as check out their many art galleries for an artistic experience. A combination of city life and wildlife viewing can be achieved, as Nairobi National Park lies close to the city center.

Another popular destination is Lamu Island, which lies northeast of Mombasa. On the island lies a UNESCO world heritage site known as Lamu Old Town. This town is Kenya's oldest town which dates back to the 12th century, with continuous settlement and growth to this day.
