Garden Route

Welcome to the Garden Route of South Africa.  The Garden Route is approximately a 300 Kilometre (Km) or 190 miles stretch of the South-Eastern Coast of the Republic of South Africa extending from the holiday village of Witsand in the Western Cape Province making it way all the way up to the border of Tsitsikama’s Storms River in the beautiful friendly Province of the Eastern Cape. The name Garden Route does not necessarily mean Garden as such one will imagine for a Garden to be but the name really comes from its lush verdant, forest, hills, beautiful beaches, lagoons, Lakes, and rivers.

The Garden Route is home to most tourist sites in Western Cape with beautiful towns surrounding it such as Knysna the Jewel of the Garden Route, Plettenberg Bay, known as the South African Billionaire playing ground and paradise, Mossel Bay the only town in South Africa which has the climate similar to Hawai, Oudtshoorn, home to the Congo Caves, Great Brak River, Little Brak River, Wilderness, Sedgefield home to World renown Paragliding instructors, Nature Valley and George being the Garden Route administrative capital

The Garden Route has an oceanic type of climate characterized by mild to warm summers, and mild to cool winters. Temperatures rarely fall below 10 °C in winter and rarely climb beyond 28 °C in summer. Rain occurs year-round, with a slight peak in the spring months, brought by the humid sea-winds from the warm Agulhas current from the Indian Ocean rising and releasing their precipitation along the beautiful and breathtaking Outeniqua and imposing beautiful Tsitsikama Mountains range just inland of the coast.

The Garden Route is sandwiched between the aforementioned mountains and the warm Indian Ocean, with mountain passes, including the Robinson Pass, and Outeniqua Pass linking the area with the arid Little Karoo the Ostrich Capital of the World.. The Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma indigenous forests are a unique mixture of Cape Fynbos and temperature forest and offer hiking trails and eco-tourism activities such as canoeing, paragliding, bungee jumping, shark cage diving, sky diving, safaris and so many other activities for the entire family traveling with children.
